Mark-Hero-Writer

Mark, the Writer

Mark is primarily known as a writer through his best-selling (and many times translated) books An Optimist’s Tour of the Future and the award-winning We Do Things Differently: the outsiders rebooting our world, although he has also written for most national newspapers in the UK. In his artistic life he has also written comedy for BBC Radio 4.

Fellow author Cory Doctorow says “Stevenson writes with enormous warmth and humour”, a fact born out by “stellar reviews all over the place” (The New Statesman). Mark’s writing “describes our future’s possibilities with a journalist’s eye for detail, a teacher’s knack for translating complexities, and a comic’s wry commentary”.

Mark is also one half of a comedy playwriting duo (the other half being Jack Milner) whose farce Octopus Soup! completed a successful UK number 1 tour in 2019 (and will soon tour internationally), described by The Stage as “an entertaining farce with a moral message that easily earns its laughs.”
